Defensive Tackle Jerron Cage Latest Ohio State Freshman to Have Black Stripe Removed

Jerron Cage Ohio State Check In

Ohio State freshman defensive tackle Jerron Cage became the latest Buckeye officially welcomed to the team when he had his black stripe removed following practice on Tuesday. He became the 13th member of the 2017 recruiting class to have his stripe removed.

Cage, from Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, was a two-time First-Team All-State selection in high school. He finished with 81 tackles as a senior and had 43 tackles-for-loss and 24 quarterback sacks in his career.

Cage is currently playing nose tackle for the Buckeyes, and clearly doing pretty well.

The freshmen still waiting to have their stripes removed are offensive lineman Josh Myers, linebacker Baron Browning, cornerbacks Amir Riep and Marcus Williamson, kicker Blake Haubeil, and receivers Jaylen Harris, Trevon Grimes, and Ellijah Gardiner.

One Response

  1. Once Jerron makes his hand technique second nature he’s got the rest of the skill sets to be a really good defensive tackle. Looking forward to seeing him and HG lined up side by side in the future.
