Three-and-a-half months after decommitting from Ohio State, 3-star Ohio (Versailles) swingman Justin Ahrens has recommitted to Ohio State.

Ahrens announced the news via Twitter.

Ahrens (6-5 180) originally committed to Ohio State in late August of 2016, but decommitted this past June, one day after Thad Matta was fired. New Buckeye head coach Chris Holtmann maintained contact with Ahrens, however, and an official visit took place this weekend.

Ahrens chose Ohio State over offers from Texas A&M, Michigan, Xavier, Purdue, and Duquesne. He is rated the No. 40 small forward in the 2018 class per the 247Sports Composite. Rivals ranks him as their No. 138 player overall.

Named the Division III Co-Player of the Year, Ahrens averaged 23.4 points per game for Versailles.

As a player, Ahrens is a smooth lefty shooter with plenty of range. He has a quick release and doesn’t mind having a hand in his face. He can put the ball on the floor and is a difficult matchup because of his left hand. Ahrens is athletic enough to finish his drives, but can also pull up with ease and either shoot or drop a pass off to an open teammate.

The commitment is the fourth this week for the Buckeyes, as Ahrens joins 4-star forward Jaedon LeDee, 3-star guard Duane Washington, and 4-star guard Luther Muhammad.
