Ohio State Offers Colorado State QB Commit Matthew Baldwin

Matthew Baldwin

Following an unofficial visit to Ohio State this weekend, 3-star Lake Travis High School (Austin, Texas) quarterback Matthew Baldwin tweeted out that he had just been offered by Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.

Baldwin, the No. 41 pro-style passer in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports Composite, is currently committed to Colorado State. He committed to the Rams back in July. He also holds offers from Brown, Columbia, Texas State, and UT-San Antonio.

Baldwin (6-3 195) wasn’t the only quarterback visiting Ohio State this weekend, as OSU also hosted 2018 quarterback Adrian Martinez on an official visit. Martinez is not listed as holding an offer, but an official visit is indicative of very mutual interest.

Martinez (Fresno, CA) is currently committed to Tennessee, but following the firing of head coach Butch Jones on Sunday, Martinez (6-2 198) could be decommitting at any moment. He is rated as the No. 7 dual-threat QB in the nation and also holds offers from Alabama, California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Georgia, Louisville, and Miami.

The Buckeyes also offered Jarren Williams a week or so ago. He was committed to Kentucky, but he decommitted this weekend following an official visit to Miami. He will be visiting Ohio State this coming weekend.

All of this quarterback excitement is, of course, due to Emory Jones not reinforcing his verbal commitment to the Ohio State coaching staff while on an official visit a couple of weeks ago. Jones was reportedly at Auburn this weekend to watch the Tigers demolition of the University of Georgia.

Jones is still technically committed to Ohio State, but the Buckeyes aren’t just sitting at home waiting for their phone to ring.
