Top 100 2019 WR Elijah Higgins Includes Ohio State in Top Group

Elijah Higgins Ohio State Recruiting Buckeyes

Austin, Texas (Bowie High School) wide receiver Elijah Higgins released his Top 7 Sunday night and the Buckeyes were joined by six other programs. Along with Ohio State, Higgins’ list included Texas, Arkansas, Stanford, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Florida.

Higgins (6-2 221) is the No. 17 receiver in the nation and the No. 103 player in the 2019 class overall per the 247Sports Composite. In 247’s own rankings, Higgins is the No. 14 receiver and the No. 88 player in the nation.

Higgins took an official visit to Ohio State a few weeks ago, which followed an unofficial visit to OSU back in the spring. He has also visited Stanford, Texas A&M, and Auburn over the last few months.

As a junior last season, Higgins caught 26 passes for 425 yards and six touchdowns. One year earlier, he caught 40 passes for 628 yards and nine touchdowns.

Higgins’ style is similar to former Buckeye Noah Brown. He is a physical receiver with the strength to break tackles. Higgins can take a short pass a long way, or go up and beat a corner for a jump ball.

Currently, Higgins’ Crystal Ball is a bit of a mess with 13 predictions so far.

Ohio State has one wide receiver committed in the 2019 recruiting class in 5-star Garrett Wilson out of Lake Travis High School in Austin.

The Buckeyes are also very involved with 4-star St. Louis receivers Marcus Washington (No. 62 overall/No. 10 WR) and Jameson Williams (No. 146 overall/No. 26 WR). Both Williams and Washington visited Ohio State the same weekend as Higgins. The Buckeyes are seen as the favorites for the St. Louis duo, but Higgins is anybody’s guess at this point.
