Late Sunday night, 5-star 2020 linebacker Mekhail Sherman released his Top 10 and Ohio State made the cut. Joining the Buckeyes were Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, Notre Dame, Penn State, Clemson, Michigan, and Oklahoma. He released the news via Twitter.

Sherman (6-3 234) plays for St. John’s College High School in Washington DC. He is ranked the No. 17 overall player and the No. 2 outside linebacker in the 247Sports Composite. Rivals ranks him as the No. 8 overall player in nation.

Sherman visited Penn State in May and Alabama in June.

Last season as a sophomore, Sherman tallied 51 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. He earned Honorable Mention All-Met last season from the Washington Post.

Sherman is participating at The Opening in Dallas and has impressed despite being an underclassmen. He was timed at 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash, which impressed as well.

It is still remarkably early in the 2020 recruiting cycle. In fact, it’s pretty silly that it is already underway almost at full speed. At this moment, however, the Buckeyes currently have the No. 2 recruiting class in the 2020 cycle. They have four players currently committed, with three of those players — defensive back Lejond Cavazos, offensive tackle Paris Johnson, and quarterback Jack Miller — committing in the past week.

Those players have now turned their attention to recruiting players like Sherman.

For instance, here is 5-star offensive tackle Paris Johnson doing his part.

There is no Crystal Ball yet for Sherman.

Interestingly, Sherman is the teammate of defensive tackle Tre Williams, who also possesses an Ohio State offer. He also included Ohio State in his cut down last week.

Also of note, both Sherman and Williams are teammates of Top 50 2020 wide receiver Rakim Jarrett, who tweeted this after Jack Miller’s commitment.
