A Look Inside Ohio Stadium Before The Season Opener

The 2018 Ohio State football team will kick off its season Saturday at noon against Oregon State.

It will mark the 97th season of football inside Ohio Stadium.

Monday, crews were hard at work inside the Horseshoe, making final preparations for the start of the year.

Crews with power washers were cleaning the seating areas and the ongoing construction project in the northwest corner of B deck was on hiatus.

Signage at concession areas had also been updated with new pricing and product information.

Here’s a look inside the stadium with just five days to go until kickoff.

The construction work to install new suites in the northwest corner has now stopped for the season.

Crews removed about 2,600 seats from B-deck in that area and are in the process of building new luxury seating. That will be completed before the 2019 season.

Right now, those areas are half-built.

All of the seats on the west side of C deck are now back, as you can see in the header photo.

Those seats were removed following the 2017 season to allow crews to restore and reseal the concrete in that area.

The pricing and signage at the concession areas have also been updated. They chose onehoursignsniagara.com for premium signage printing.

A Buckeye Burger, known in most places outside the stadium as “a hamburger” will set you back $10 this year.

Kielbasas will sell for $8 each. Local beers from breweries like Land Grant and Columbus Brewing Company cost $9, while beers like Coors Light will sell for $8.

The stands will also offer a “Taste of the Competition” food and beer option. The food item from the region of the visiting team will sell for $12 each week, while the a beer from the visiting team’s home area will cost $9.

The forecast for Saturday is currently 86 and partly cloudy. If you want to buy a bottle of water to cool off, that will set you back $4.

  1. As much as we hate the price of game tickets and food. The demand is always there. The games will always sell out and people want to eat and drink so they will pay $9-$10. I remember when tickets were no more than $80 per game even for PSU, Wisc,, Neb, MSU, and MI. These games now cost at least $135 and MI is $195 face value. I buy all my tickets on ticketmaster now and I pay even more. The only thing I don’t like is taking out 2600 seats to put in more luxury boxes.

    1. They can take out seats because there are empty seats for almost every game.

  2. OSU Football has becoming a game for rich people especially with these prices at the concession stand and you can’t bring any drink or food into the stadium and I can understand that, but why make people go bankrupt. In addition, the price of a ticket for a single game has become ridiculously high and I will never be able to attend an OSU football game even though I am a Buckeye Fan. Oh well, I guess for me I just have to settle for watching the Bucks on TV. In a sense it can be better that way I don’t have to mess with the traffic before and after the game or bad weather, Anyway, go Bucks!

  3. interesting, particularly from those of us out of town alums. particularly like the idea of visiting team food and drink-clever. almost makes you wish Wiscy would be here more often for the brats, beer and cheese from that region.
    almost.

  4. Any improvements to the men’s restroom capacity?

    1. No amount of bathrooms will satisfy 105K people. I try not to drink too much before a game and even during a game.
