Ohio State Football Future Schedules Now Set Through 2025

If you’re the type of Ohio State football fan who likes to plan out their fall weekends in advance, we have some great news for you.

Wednesday, the Big Ten released Ohio State’s conference game schedules for 2022 through 2025.

The cross-divisional games are about as tough as they could get.

Between now and 2025, the Buckeyes will face Nebraska and Wisconsin five times each. OSU will face Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Purdue three times each.

If you’re a fan of the Illibuck trophy, we have some bad news. The Buckeyes and Illinois will face off only twice between now and 2025.

Planning a road trip? Here’s a breakdown of how many opportunities you’ll have to hit each Big Ten campus between now and 2025:

  • Penn State – 4
  • Michigan – 4
  • Michigan State – 4
  • Rutgers – 4
  • Indiana – 4
  • Maryland – 4
  • Nebraska – 3
  • Wisconsin – 2
  • Northwestern – 2
  • Purdue – 2
  • Iowa – 1
  • Minnesota – 1
  • Illinois – 1

The Buckeyes will have to wait eight full years before getting a chance to avenge their 2017 loss to Iowa with a return trip to Iowa City. That won’t happen until September 27, 2025.

There are some brutal back-to-backs coming for the Buckeyes as well.

In 2019 and 2021, OSU plays Penn State and at Michigan to close the regular season.

In 2020 and 2022, the Buckeyes have to make back-to-back road trips to Michigan State and Penn State.

The 2023 schedule includes Penn State and a trip to Madison in back-to-back weeks.

In 2024, the Buckeyes close the regular season with a trip to Michigan State before hosting Michigan.

The toughest might be in 2025, when OSU plays Penn State, Michigan State, and at Michigan in the final three weeks of the schedule.

Of course, the freshmen who will play in that game are currently in sixth grade. So all of those programs could be much better or worse by then.

It’s worth noting that there are still a few holes in the non-conference portion of the 2022 through 2025 schedules. But this should at least let you get started on planning your tailgates.

  1. As many OSU haters say that OSU plays a weak OC schedule,I as them to find five other power five schools that can challenge OSU year in and year out with the top notch teams they play home and away! Same holds true for this.

  2. wow—that 2025 schedule could be KILLER!…..and i think the big ten must hate OSU….yeah I know OSU is the big bad boys but some of that scheduling is absolutely ridiculous and unfair, esp right before the scUM game..it seems OSU gets screwed almost every time on the scheduling…at MSU and PSU back to back?? at MSU right before scUM…..if they even this out with tough games for scUM then whatever–but if they give scUM a layup right before then something needs to change..this is pretty unjust

    1. Imagine if we win the last 3 games, we would have the conference championship game and playoff games after that. Just hope no major injuries happen in those games.

  3. The non conference slate for the next few years is embarrassing.

    1. Oregon, ND, Washington, Texas aren’t bad. Our non- conference schedule the last 10 years was pretty good compared to other big name schools. You have to remember to get a big name school to agree to a home and home series is not easy. You can’t force them to play us and you would be dumb to play in their stadium without them playing in the Shoe the following year.

      1. 18 and 19 are pretty lame. Agree to disagree on Oregon, they are a shadow of what they were a few years ago. It’s just disappointing, given the university’s desire to gouge fans for every cent they can wring out of game attendees.
