Is Urban Meyer Done As Ohio State Football Coach?

A dejected Urban Meyer leaves the field after the Buckeyes were ground into the dirt by Iowa.

The Graveyard of Coaches could be on the verge of claiming another career.

As recently as mid-July, it was unthinkable that Urban Meyer could have already coached his final game at Ohio State.

However, on Wednesday, he moved a little closer to unemployment when the school put him on paid administrative leave in the wake of the Zach Smith scandal.

Ohio State issued a statement saying in part, “We are focused on supporting our players and on getting to the truth as expeditiously as possible.”

However, “the truth” may prove harder for the school to wrap its arms around than it seems.

The easy decisions are in the past. Smith is already gone. That’s a decision few outside of Smith himself and his attorney would argue with, except for those who think it should have happened years earlier.

Then things get murkier. Wednesday, Smith’s ex-wife Courtney produced text messages to a reporter that appear to show that Shelley Meyer, Urban’s wife, was aware of the allegations of abuse against Zach Smith in 2015.

A separate text thread between Courtney Smith and another OSU staffer’s wife implies that Urban Meyer discussed the case with others.

However, in a televised interview that aired later on Wednesday, Courtney Smith said that despite talking to Shelley Meyer repeatedly after the incident, she never found out whether Shelley and Urban ever discussed the case.

On July 24 at Big Ten Media Days, Urban Meyer denied knowing about the 2015 case until very recently.

“I can’t say it didn’t happen because I wasn’t there. I was never told about anything, never anything came to light, we never had a conversation about it, so I know nothing about that,” he told reporters.

That same day, Meyer talked about how he and Shelley worked together to help resolve a similar situation between the Smiths in 2009.

“Shelley and I actually both got involved because of our relationship with that family and advised for counseling and wanted to help as we moved forward,” he said.

Believing Meyer is telling the truth now means believing that six years after he and Shelley were both directly involved in a similar case with the same people, she was now actively hiding information from him.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s possible. And it may be impossible to prove otherwise.

Brett McMurphy, the reporter who broke the story, tweeted Wednesday morning that he had obtained text messages that showed “Ohio State coach Urban Meyer knew in 2015 of domestic abuse allegations against a member of his coaching staff despite his denial last week.”

Then, on Sportscenter late Wednesday night, he said, “I do not have any direct evidence that Urban Meyer – any text messages from Urban Meyer that says he knew about it.”

If there was clear and direct evidence that Meyer was guilty of covering up domestic abuse or interfering in the police investigations of it, he could very well already be gone.

If there was zero evidence that even suggested that Meyer looked the other way, he likely never would have been placed on leave in the first place.

It’s hard to believe that a coach known for meticulous attention to detail was somehow totally unaware of a deeply concerning situation that many associated with his program, including his own wife, apparently knew about.

It’s also hard to believe that a coach would have been willing to risk everything – his dream job, his carefully built program, and a national championship-caliber team – to protect a wide receivers coach, regardless of whose grandson he was.

The photos from Courtney Smith were horrific. The police were called to the Smiths’ house repeatedly, but Zach Smith was never brought to trial, let alone convicted. Thusfar, there is no indication that it was because Meyer interfered or “made it go away.”

It took an email from Jim Tressel’s official university account to prove that he was aware of the scandal that ultimately brought him down. So far, this case doesn’t have that type of definitive evidence.

However, even if that evidence does come forward, it’s still not a guarantee he would be fired.

In December 2016, Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre had a 34-minute phone conversation with the girlfriend of one of his assistant coaches who said she was being abused. MacIntyre told his athletic director, then blocked the woman’s number in his phone, and talked about the conversation with the man accused of abusing her.

That assistant coach, Joe Tumpkin, was later charged with five counts of felony second-degree assault.

MacIntyre received only a letter of reprimand and was ordered to donate $100,000 to domestic violence organizations.

At this point, almost everything is still up in the air. How long will the investigation take? Where is the “red line” that would move this from something Meyer could survive professionally to a fireable offense?

Depending on what Ohio State’s investigation uncovers, it very well may end up having more than enough to fire Meyer for cause.

However, it’s also still entirely possible that he’s back on the sidelines for the season opener against Oregon State.

Meyer might not come out of this case with his reputation where it was a month ago, but it’s still entirely possible he survives it with his job.

  1. This whole Urban Meyer fiasco can be summed up by two three-word phrases: “rush to judgment” and “trial by media.”

  2. Ryan Day should learn and use this phrase liberally. “I do not comment on the personal lives of players, coaches or staff of The Ohio State University.” Better yet, NO COMMENT.

  3. Likely, the Police reports of students and faculty involvelment don’t go to the coaching staffs desks. Where do they go and what is the procedure for OSU to respond ?

  4. So the parents knew, the in-laws knew and the police knew and now we fire the head coach. I don’t think he will survive it and if he comes back the media is really going to dig and they will not let it go. . They wont stop until he’s gone. They should be interviewing the Parents in-laws and police on why this kept happening. By the way I hope I’m wrong

  5. Political Correctness is killing this country. In today’s media, the slightest allegation of impropriety regarding a cause celebre and a prominent, public person, ignites the media and haters into a frenzy. Coach Myers is not a Policeman, he’s not a Marriage Counselor, he is not a Clergyman. He’s a Football Coach, and a damn good one at that!
I wonder why the victim did not go to the Police to report the crimes against her? I also wonder why it has taken so many years for the allegations to be made?

  6. do you know of any other job that a man could lose his job under the same conditions? the only other job may be a cop. urban is not a cop (sorry- law inforcement officer

    1. Yes. Most every corporation has an ethics clause that could conceivably be utilized if the company wanted to terminate an employee. In states with “at will employment” the cause for termination needn’t be serious.

    2. ANY contract between an employer with the conditions contained in Urbans contract is DUTY BOUND to abide by them or their agreements mean NOTHING. I couldn’t care less about any other CEO’s contract. Urban came to agreement with Ohio State. If Urban knew of even the slightest hint that Zach Smith was stalking, menacing, laying hands on etc etc etc, he has violated his contract and SHOULD be fired, even if we hate it. If he had an issue with those contract terms, he should have presented them and asked for a new contract to be written. The following are the terms Urban signed his name to. regarding incidents like this.
      —————————————————————————————————–
Failure by Coach to promptly report to Ohio State’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator — Athletics or Ohio State’s Title IX Coordinator any known violations of Ohio State’s Sexual Misconduct Policy (including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate violence and stalking) that involve any student, faculty, or staff or that is in connection with a university sponsored activity or event. For purposes of this section … a “known violation” shall mean a violation or an “ALLEGATION” of a violation of Title IX that Coach is aware of or has REASONABLE CAUSE TO BELIEVE is taking place or MAY HAVE TAKEN PLACE.

Urban has a problem. and a choice. Tell the investigators that he knew because his wife had informed him, or others had informed him, and try to throw THEM under the bus, or prove his innocence. If the Columbus Police contacted him at home or at the office to inform him of allegations concerning Zach Smith from as far back as 2014, there will be a record of it, and Urban WILL be fired.

  7. Let’s see…. Courtney Smith told her parents, her husband’s parents and the other coaches wives about abuse. But she refused to bring charges which would have given legal status to her complaint.
And now, three years later she blames Urban Meyer, with whom she did not discuss her situation, for not resolving the problems between her and her ex-husband. Until the police are involved, a complaint is merely hearsay. When people are fired for unproven hearsay, they get sued. This is not a story about a helpless child on whom people turned their backs. It is the story of an adult woman with a support system of her parents and in-laws who did not want to take the adult step of going to the police.
As sad as the situation is, this is not and was not Urban Meyer’s problem and if our politically correct University President fires Urban to satisfy those calling for blood, it will severely damage The Ohio State University.

  8. Honestly, Meyer put two universities at risk by not firing Smith in 2009 and then bringing the cancer with him to OSU, all this for the sake of pleasing one person. He put the future of few hundred men at risk and the reputation of the institutions in the balance. IMO, Meyer and whoever signed off on Smith to be hired at OSU should go. Very simple and regardless of 2015 or 2018.

  9. Let the investigation run it’s course before saying that he should be fired or continue as Head Football Coach. No matter which way the tree falls the Ohio State Football Program will be fine. The sun will rise and set whether or not the Meyer era continues or ends.

  10. Based on what I’ve learned so far about this, if no evidence comes out that Urban knew anything in 2015, he should keep his job. I also think that won’t happen…he’ll lose his job. PC has run amok and everyone is in tail-between-their-legs over-reach and running scared. “Innocent til proven guilty” has become a thing of the past. What a shame.

    1. It isn’t an issue of political correctness; it is an issue of abiding by the terms of a contract and bylaws of the NCAA.

      1. These are terms of Urban Meyers contract that he needs to worry about. If Courtney and her Lawyers can prove that Urban failed to abide by the terms of his new contract, he’s not only fired, but he’ll lose 38+ million dollars FROM his contract.

The ONLY way that will come about is if the investigation shows that he knew and failed to act in an appropriate and timely manner. If he did know and failed to report he HAS violated his contract. THIS is why the Board has appointed a separate Legal investigation into the matter and why Meyer isn’t going to be on the sidelines until this is settled.

        TERMS OF CONTRACT
Failure by Coach to promptly report to Ohio State’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator — Athletics or Ohio State’s Title IX Coordinator any known violations of Ohio State’s Sexual Misconduct Policy (including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate violence and stalking) that involve any student, faculty, or staff or that is in connection with a university sponsored activity or event. For purposes of this section … a “known violation” shall mean a violation or an allegation of a violation of Title IX that Coach is aware of or has reasonable cause to believe is taking place or may have taken place.

——————————————————————————————————–Did Urban know that Zack Smith was stalking Courtney, or had laid hands on her? I think Urban better hire a better Legal team than the “If the glove don’t acquit” legal team that got OJ off for slaughter Nicole.

        1. Notice the part that says KNOWN VIOLATION and what it encompasses. A VIOLATION OR AN “ALLEGATION” of a violation of Title IX that coach is aware of, OR HAS REASONABLE CAUSE to believe is taking place or MAY HAVE TAKEN PLACE.

The job of any prosecutor or investigator is preeeeeeeeeeeeety simple. Establish that Urban knew and failed to report. If they uncover even a single word from him that he knew and did nothing, he is fired and loses his contract pay out. Sorry but loyalty to a freaking slime bag piece of dirt like Zach Smith wouldn’t be worth it for ANY reason.

The question the investigation will have to ask now is, is there a reason beyond loyalty that Urban would have kept his mouth shut to protect Smith.

The lesson is? DO WHAT IS RIGHT, NOT WHAT IS EXPEDIENT.”

Lets all hope that Urban actually didn’t know, and he did what was right. Something like this would officially end his coaching career.

  11. To me it’s a tempest in a teapot and women’s gossip and a money grab by a disgruntled wife and her lawyer until such time that Urban is proven to have known of it and not conjecturing that his wife must have told him. Again, women’s gossip and this is another reason why they should keep their mouths shut in public and learn some discretion. Unfortunately today the wife represents the school with her actions and inability to mind her own business on social media. Anne Hayes was wise and classy enough not to use her position as a platform for her own agendas but instead spoke at commencements and luncheons and not gossiping. In any event, if Mrs. Meyer told Urban inside knowledge from extra-legal channels that he should not know until through proper channels then she’s as bad as the attorney who tipped Jim Tressel off. It’s a legal matter between contentious spouses and lawyers with dollar signs. I’m sorry that Shelley wasn’t smart enough to send Courtney to a professional and keep her nose out of it. It is a load of Peyton Place bullshit with deep pockets in the age of pc madness and people who can’t keep anything to themselves about things of which they have no knowledge. Just in time for football season. Football is supposed to be a refuge from this Tupperware party bullocks. I guess there’s fishing. .

  12. Thing I can’t wrap my head around is the stupidity it would take for a coach like Meyer (a high-profile coach at one of the biggest programs, who has been under scrutiny for almost his entire career, who most likely understands he continues to be under a microscope, especially in this digital day and age where everything is recorded) to willingly handle domestic violence accusations like he’s being purported. Gold pants and tattoos? Sure, I can get that. Dumb rule. Domestic violence? Something just doesn’t make sense. I sure hope he’s not that dumb.

Plus, what could have Meyer done differently in 2015 if Courtney was actively not willing to press charges? What could Meyer and the Administration have done? Engage the authorities so she could…….deny to press charges? Or…..fire him? Meyer wasted no time canning Smith after this last instance, which would have been the same end result in 2015, so why pursue more? Why now?

Not to mention, why would her parents and in-laws both not actively help? She admitted they knew too. If that were my daughter, I’d be in jail right now if a man truly abused her like she’s accusing. Yet, her father? “Nah sweetie, just let it go.” WTH? Maybe they dont have that kind of relationship. I doubt that tho.

    Things really dont add up.

  13. Given his history with players that have had issues with how they react to and treat women, it is hard to believe Urban would actively suppress or lie about this incident. we will see.

What is more interesting to me is that the public and the media seem ready to hold football coaches to a higher standard than we do politicians.

    1. You mean like how he addressed the Conley and Elliott allegations?

People WANT higher standards for politicians, but who do we call to address political abuse? The Government? They act as one to circle the wagons to protect their own. That means all three branches of Federal Governance. If they all faced equal justice, Washington, DC would be a faded memory of a long dead ghost town. ALL sides of the political realm are a self entitled worthless bunch of lowlife creeps.

A Football coach is expendable fodder when it comes to protecting any Institutions reputation. There’s ALWAYS a next Woody Hayes, Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer. If those coaches can’t maintain their own group of charges, the political body (Administration and Board) WILL toss them like a used rubber.

      1. James you say that there are always good coaches, like it’s inevitable for there to be a very good coach at osu, yet at the same time, you left out a couple that coached there and many prior to those mentioned. Tsun is still looking for its next great coach, after Schembechler and it is easily argued that they are the equal or better to osu historically.

        1. _ichigan is a shithole, just like College College and they convinced themselves that they were smart enough to find winner coaches. They’re not. In antiquity they were the equal or better of Ohio State. In the modern era, they are not.

I remember to clothes ringing when Woody went out. When Earle went out, when Cooper went out and when Tress went out. There is ALWAYS someone new coach who will step in. Unless you are of the belief that Urban would have ever come to Ohio State if Ohio State wan’t a massive program and nearly unlimited accessibility to the entire Country and beyond. That belief would be wrong.

IF, and it’s a HUGE if, Urban is released from Ohio State, WHOEVER steps in will be coming in to a massive budget to work with, 2nd to none facilities, great behind the scenes support, a raucous, rowdy and obsessed fan base, and a roster FILLED with some of the best players in the United States who are chomping at the bit to prove themselves against any and all comers..

Yep, there is ALWAYS a next to fill the void left by the previous grave yard marker, known as the previous Head Coach.

_ichigan is a foreign tech run athletically and administratively like a bunch of clowns. Ohio State is none of that, and I’m a guy who can’t stand Gene Smith. He’s still better and smarter than the entire collection of dolts up North.

  14. What would have been the proper response by Meyer if he did know of the abuse in 2015? The technical response is that his contract had the stipulation that he had to notify the administration, but as a society what do we expect of him? What did Cortney Smith expect of him? The only thing I think that would have saved Meyer would be to fire Smith quickly and distance himself from the situation.

    1. The proper response would have been to have first looked Earle Bruce in the eye and “TELLING” him that he has no choice but to dump his useless grandson, gone to Gene Smith and contacted the proper authorities. It wouldn’t matter if there were going to charges filed. The pictures of the abuse should have been all the confirmation he should have needed to dump the clown, especially after “learning” of the Florida issues. Police involvement started in 2014. It’s impossible to believe that the Columbus PD didn’t notify the school and Urban. That’s a routine action in cases like this.

      1. So as a society, the proper response is to a non-prosecuted case of domestic violence is to dump the abuser as an employee, friend, and family member? I’m not trying to defend Meyer here, if he knew of the abuse everyone is saying he should have acted differently but I really don’t know what would be expected. I hope everyone calling for Meyer to be axed also are calling for the police chief to resign as well

  15. I’ve been searching for any arrest reports on Zach Smith. The only one I could find is the latest incident for which he was fired:

Zach was handed a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing for dropping the couple’s son off at Courtney’s house, as opposed to at a pre-arranged location.

Again, not saying he is innocent of all the allegations, but this appears to be the only charge against him.

Yeah – let’s put Urban on leave and have the national press tell everyone he should be fired. Great move, OSU. Whoever made the decision to put him on leave is the one who should be fired.

  16. He’s gone. Because of the current climate and the fact that you can’t prove the negative (that he didn’t know) it will untenable for Ohio State to keep him….unfair? perhaps… but in the best interests of the University.

  17. Some in the media have used this as a sermon for the wickedness of OSU with Woody, then JT and now Urban and the gullible sheep of OSU fans. There are many talking heads who pretend to know every little detail of this situation even though the facts are very limited. Watched Brett McMurphy being interviewed, he sounded insecure as if he was trying to justify his actions to himself. Watched Urban at the press conference discussing this issue, there was nothing in his voice or demeanor that indicated any falsehood. However, facts will be facts. To many this sounds just like the PSU fiasco and the media began reporting this as this is just a one time happening of Ms. Smith talking with fellow coaches’ wives, while this is an entirely different story. It is interesting that Urban said that he is eagerly waiting for this to be resolved, as if Urban knows facts that will somehow, someway clear this mess up. Right now at best its very troubling. Just like the rest of OSU fans waiting for the other shoe to drop.

  18. Urban is trying to run a HUGE football program! Why do people assume he intentionally lied? Big assumption. Sad that modern college football does not allow for “humanity”. Life is hard and some people have horrible marriages. The woman should have went to the police. This would have been over.

  19. The worst thing that can happen is a rush to judgement. Did we learn nothing from the Duke lacrosse case? What can be worse than to judge someone guilty before investigation and then, several years later, have to say oops, we were wrong…nothing wrong here.

Dammit, in this country you are innocent until proven guilty. There is no evidence, right now, that requires any disciplinary action. Why is everyone jumping the gun? PC is why. Get Urby back to coaching, do an investigation and then let the chips fall, not the other way around.

    1. Your first sentence is exactly the right response Doug. Had you stopped there it would have been absolutely perfect. But the University has policies and the Institution to protect. Putting Urban on PAID leave IS giving Urban the benefit of the doubt, until the truth comes out. There’s just no way with a clear conscious they let him coach until the matter is settled. In the meantime, he’s still the Head Coach and being paid accordingly. He’s just not on the field until the matter is over.

  20. The mistake was even discussing it in the press conference. It would have been so simple and proper to answer that question by explaining it is an internal matter just as he would normally do with a player suspension. It was the statement that he knew nothing about the 2015 issue that has created the problem.

My gut says he was trying to do the best he could for the Smith family, not just Zach. I don’t see Urban as the type to leave a woman in a bad situation. Courtney has stated she didn’t want him losing the job. Even Shelley mentioned the job in the texts. Courtney was more concerned with keeping the cash flow than getting Zach fired.

But now the job is lost and the alimony impossible, she is selling her story to bottom feeders like McMurphy and Stadium. My opinion, Urban should have rid himself of Zach Smith long ago. A mediocre coach and far worse human being. But I do grow tired of the beyond reproach attitude given his wife.

  21. Let’s assume Urban knew about the allegations in 2015. So what? Is he obligated to fire Smith even though he was never convicted of anything? Then Smith and his wife would have sued the university for unjust dismissal.

If the first assumption is true, Urban lied to the press last week. So what? Pretty much anyone of importance lies to the press at times including many of our presidents.

Ohio State made a horribly stupid decision to place him on leave. This wasn’t even a story until OSU made it into a story. I hope from now on, everyone in the Athletic Dept has learned to just reply “no comment” on any question not related to football.

Ohio State should correct their previous bonehead move and get him back on the sidelines real quick.

    1. I agree with most of what you say but do think it was wise to put Coach Meyer on leave. It allows the university to investigate more quickly and ideally make a decision before the first game. What is unclear is what level of hypocrisy will remain when the dust settles given the incident that stems from Florida and with everyone at Ohio State on notice. It’s been noted that Urban’s contract that just took effect had stronger wording around reporting of incidents so unless it covers previous crimes, there is no ex post facto assessment and discussion should be around what were Coach Meyer’s obligations in the 2015 version of the contract. Given that coach Smith was fired after the new contract, Coach Meyer may already have acted in accordance with the new terms. For me, “on leave” is a fair sign that there are two sides here and so far nothing factual that instantly can bring down Coach Meyer.

  22. it’s pretty clear what the writer of this less than objective article thinks.
Seems the media frenzy is in major “witch hunt” mode. Just my initial observation. Let’s wait for all the facts to come out before we pass judgment.

    1. Objectivity? Media Frenzy? Witch Hunt? Where was your outrage when Paterno was fired and being hung out to dry even after a grand jury report stated he’d done absolutely nothing wrong? Weren’t you even a little curious when Louis Freeh claimed there was a “culture of corruption” at PSU, even though he never interviewed Coach Paterno, the Athletic Director, the Head of Camput Security, or anyone else supposedly involved in a cover up? No, I think OSUs board of directors should rush to judgment and fire Urban Meyer today. I think the Big 10 should penalize OSU, and I think the NCAA should vacate wins, take away scholarships, and allow OSU players to leave immediately without penalty. (As I recall, Urban Meyer was more than happy to storm in to take as many players as he could)

Nope, don’t expect any sympathy from across the boarder. For me, this whole thing is about to become great entertainment.

      1. You dumb fuck! Don’t let your emotions control your flow. Put a tampon in quick

      2. Urban at worst didn’t report or terminate things that happened off Campus. Paterno and his name remain a disgrace because he gave a KNOWN pedophile who used the Universities facilities to RAPE little boys and office that facilitated Sandusky’s crimes. The RIGHT and PROPER response was to fire Paterno. The NCAA failed society by NOT giving that trash dump Football program the death penalty.

        1. James, paterno was fired because the little girls in charge of psu were going to go down in flames and they wanted to take charge of their sinking ship by firing the cap’t., but the vessel was already well on its way to davey jone’s locker. And fortunately took them with it. Sandusky wasn’t a known abuser at the time he was using psu as his personal playground. There were rumblings and grumblings about him but nothing that put him on the radar of a court date. Paterno reported what he was ‘told’, not saw, to his boss, that was his only mandatory obligation, as much as the moral police would like one to believe he had other responsibilities, at that point it becomes his boss’ obligation to deal with it, and that means involving law enforcement, which didn’t come into play until much later in the time frame, which meant that a lot of other kids were abused at psu and at the other place where sandusky volunteered, and had his pick of vulnerable kids to choose from. Not because paterno refused to act, but because his superiors, the ones actually in charge and responsible to report and follow up with the investigation-had there been one, failed to do their jobs and were fired for just that reason, all of the way up the chain, and were prosecuted for not doing what ‘they’ were required by law to do. Lastly, it was not, never was and never will be the job of the ncaa to have ANY involvement or jurisdiction or judgement in what is a civil and legal matter-even if it is on the campus of an ncaa institution. That was proved in the follow up lawsuits and concessions the ncaa gave, or were forced to give in this matter. They wanted to stick their chests out and pretend they were the big bad decider of this case, well their puffy chests became a balloon that was pricked with a needle and the whoosh everyone heard was their collective breaths that they weren’t to be sued for millions of dollars by psu, like they subsequently were by miami, and n. carolina, for overstepping there bounds, like most bullies think is there right to do. They backed down in all 3 cases like bullies tend to do when confronted with real consequences.

          1. No Mike, Paterno was fired because he aided and abetted his long time pedophile butt buddy.

The ONLY women involved in that entire mess was the NCAA, Joe Paterno himself, Sandusky, a COWARDLY administration at PSU, corrupt judges and utterly useless politicians. For the most part the general population of students too remain victims of a football program that SHOULD be the first thing that comes up when you google the term “death penalty.”

You’re not very smart are you dude? What brought Paterno down WAS NOT a civil matter isolated AWAY from Penn State University. It was crimes being committed INSIDE the football facilities by a KNOWN pedolphile that Joe crap your pants Paterno gave free reign over. Little boys being raped in the players showers.

Make light of it all you want, but, it doesn’t change anything. Paterno was a pussy coward as yellow as they come, and just as guilty of raping those CHILDREN. You want sympathy for the State College house of Pedolphiles, I’d advise you to go somewhere else. Defending those worthless scum of the earth, filthy criminals here, just isn’t in your best interest.

              1. Sorry MBucknut and Miles. My comments were directed at Jim Mueller. My bad and I apologize.

      3. No one in the big ten went to hv to take any of their kids except the worst team in the league, ill. They may or may not have gotten one kid to transfer, but in general, no one likes it when one of there brethren in the league is in the national news, it’s bad for the whole league. I gather from the tenor of your silliness, that you are less a psu fan, but definetly a shit stirrer. How’d that smell? All schools went after the high school kids in pa, but that is the nature of the beast called recruiting.

  23. I’ll just wait this out. I can’t take a person with the following resume too seriously when he’s discussing tOSU:

Brett McMurphy is a college football insider, previously at ESPN, CBSSports.com, AOL FanHouse, The Tampa Tribune and The Odessa American.

  24. Doesn’t look good if Urban knew anything in 2015,if he did know anything then what was he thinking I’m a big fan of Urban I hope he gets through this but it don’t look good

  25. In this day and age, you can’t assume anyone is telling the truth. You can’t assume a picture is being accurately represented. You can’t assume anything someone claims is true. People lie, misrepresent and distort to gain something or get attention. Only when all the facts come out should you draw conclusions. This has been proven true over and over again. Patience.

    1. According to Urbans contract he is BOUND to report any kind of incident like this whether it’s true or false. He agreed to the terms of the contract, including the section describing his OBLIGATION to take the slightest hint of misconduct by players, staff, or any other employee to the Title IX Board.

      *****NOTE TO CHRISTOPHER PERRY*****

Yes Urban has the responsibility/DUTY ON or OFF Campus to “police” especially those he is directly responsible for. If he fails than he HAS failed the terms of his contract. A contract he agreed to and signed. It doesn’t matter if the allegations were or are hearsay, he is obligated to report these allegations to the Title IX Board.

The BOD’s has moved to protect themselves and the institution and the student body at large.
