The Ohio State Buckeyes are Big Ten football champions again and while some people might rend their garments and gnash their teeth over a select group of dweebs not putting them in their little college football
payday playoff, Chip and I are celebrating a great season. You just can’t have grown up in any era other than the current one and not appreciate a 12-1 season with a demolition of Michigan, a conference championship, and a trip to the Rose Bowl. Would it be nice to be playing for the natty? Sure, but we can’t really do anything about it so we’re just going to enjoy the Buckeyes in Pasadena.
We break down Ohio State’s win over Northwestern in Indy, and give credit to the Wildcats for playing like we expected them to — tenacious, fundamentally sound, and without any quit whatsoever. Congratulations to Pat Fitzgerald for a great season but those nerds were no match for Dwayne Haskins and Zone 6 in the end. We discuss Dwayne’s big night and his chances at winning a Heisman Trophy.
We also discuss the other big games of the day and all of the dominoes that didn’t fall Ohio State’s way, leaving the Buckeyes outside the College Football Playoff again despite wearing the conference championship crown. There were a lot of factors at play, some of which made no sense, but we hash it all out.
We’ll be back next week to start Rose Bowl prep, talk about national awards, and discuss any other news that breaks between now and then.
