4-Star Cornerback Ryan Watts Commits To Ohio State

Ryan Watts Ohio State Buckeyes Cornerback Commit

The 2020 Ohio State recruiting class just added another one of the nation’s top players.

Ryan Watts, a 4-star cornerback from Little Elm, Texas just committed to the Buckeyes.

He ranks as the No. 255 player overall in the class of 2020 and the 19th-best corner in the class.

The Buckeyes first offered Watts a scholarship back in February.

He committed to Oklahoma in April, but stayed in touch with the Buckeyes. Watts visited Columbus in June, and then made an official visit for the Miami game. Less than two weeks later, he decommitted from the Sooners.

He chose the Buckeyes over offers from schools including Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas, and Michigan.

Watts is the third cornerback in the class, joining Clark Phillips and Lejond Cavazos. Cavazos is listed as a safety by recruiting sites, but is expected to play corner at OSU.

Watts stands 6-foot-2, making him an ideal corner to battle against taller outside receivers. That’s the role he plays on his high school team, where he allowed just one reception during his entire junior season. It’s also where he’ll likely start his Buckeye career.

A look at his junior season highlight reel shows him playing mainly in press man, which is what he will do on most snaps as a Buckeye as well.

You can watch that below.

  1. I don’t follow recruiting all that well, but this kid seems to be a great catch. And I trust Coach Hafley.

  2. Another GREAT pick up by the staff. Welcome aboard and welcome to BIA DBU.
