The Buckeyes, as it turned out, had little trouble handling the Wisconsin Badgers, although the visitors from the dairy state kept things close for a half. Despite rainy conditions that hindered the passing game, Ohio State was able to eventually get things rolling on offense and never seemed too troubled defensively by Jonathan Taylor and the Badger offense. Chip and I break down a soggy 38-7 win that might have been even more lopsided under better weather conditions.
It turns out that Ohio State has two guys who wear No. 2 who are good at football and they put on a show Saturday afternoon, upstaging the two guys who were getting Heisman Trophy buzz coming in — Justin Fields (who was darn good in his own right) and Taylor. We look back at our predictions and picks to click to see what we got right and wrong.
Then we take a spin around the Big Ten to look at what everyone else was doing. Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, and Michigan seem to be on the upswing while Maryland, Purdue, Northwestern, Sparty, and Nebraska don’t look so good. The West is Minnesota’s to lose, although the Gophers have their toughest match-ups still ahead. Iowa is staying alive, while Wisconsin hopes to regroup and stay in the race. The East seems like it will come down to Ohio State vs. Penn State unless someone trips up.
