Two-Minute Drill: Ryan Day ‘Lightning Round’ Updates — Oct. 3

Ryan Day Ohio State Buckeyes Head Coach

COLUMBUS — Ohio State head coach Ryan Day met with reporters Thursday after his radio show for his weekly “lightning round” of final questions before the Buckeyes go “radio silent.” Day answered questions about his team and provided personnel updates ahead of Saturday’s matchup with the Michigan State Spartans. Here are the highlights of what was said.

+ This will be the biggest challenge for the offensive line this season. “Definitely.” They struggled with MSU up front last year. The conversation coming into this season was that he wanted this OL to be tough. Be the tip of the spear because they wanted to be able to run the ball.

+ Master Teague has a couple of catches the last two weeks, but that’s just a product of guys rolling in and out.

+ The first week from JK Dobbins was funky, but from them on he’s been very good.

+ Drue Chrisman is very professional about what he does. “I love that about our specialists.” They watch film. “There’s no jacking around.”

+ Day said they send plays in weekly to the Big Ten. There were some things going on that Nebraska’s Khalil Davis was doing and he was suspending and he supports that decision.

+ Day couldn’t get a feel too much for Justin Fields’ thought process until they got onto the field and started playing, but he has done a great job with that.
