The Buckeyes took care of business against Penn State but it was anything but easy, even though maybe it could have been if not for a plethora of silly turnovers, penalties, a lack of anyone with the authority to throw a flag for holding actually knowing what holding is, and the most conservative play calling since Jim Tressel last patrolled the sidelines. Still, a win is a win and Ohio State clinched a date in Indianapolis with the winner of the Southern Canada Derby as a result, regardless of what transpires in The Game this Saturday.
Chip and I discuss the match-up, our thoughts on the play calling, and why referees should be applauded for saving lives by allowing Penn State’s tackles to do what all of us want to do and give Chase Young really big, warm hugs. We also look back at our incorrect score predictions and check in on our picks to click. We touched on an unusual redshirt situation, speculated on what the hell Rutgers is going to do now that Greg Schiano is out of the running for the Scarlet Knights’ head coach position, and take our weekly lap around the B1G results. Behold the glory of me trying to remember in real time the name of the trophy for which Illinois and Northwestern compete annually! You normally have to pay big bucks for entertainment like that but we’re giving it to you for free!
After answering listener questions in our mailbag, we turn our focus on The Game, and I talked myself into being much more nervous than at any point this season (or last)! Seriously, 2018 overtime against Maryland doesn’t even compare. Our predictions surprised even me, and we give you our picks to click for the Buckeyes.
