The Buckeyes went about replacing outside receivers Terry McLaurin and Johnnie Dixon this spring, turning toward several players to give it a go. Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor returned and provided a veteran presence for a group that needs it. The group has also seen an injury to redshirt freshman Kamryn Babb and the transfers of…
Brian Hartline’s coaching career has been an interesting dichotomy of rarities and commonalities. On the one hand, Hartline’s beginning is extremely common. He simply volunteered. He got his foot in the door by helping Ohio State’s scout team prepare for the playoffs back in 2016. On the other hand, Hartline’s rise…
The stellar Ohio State social media crew has put together their latest edition of “The Room,” which features assistant coach Brian Hartline and his wide receivers. In the video, clips are shown of Hartline working with his group this spring, as well as him talking about what the culture of ‘Zone 6’ entails. Hartline explains why the receiver room…
KJ Hill’s first catch as a Buckeye was a 47-yard touchdown in the season opener against Bowling Green in 2016. He has added 141 more since that catch, which now puts him seventh all-time in OSU history. He is two catches in front of Santonio Holmes, and one behind good friend Parris Campbell. Campbell is now gone, however, as…
Ohio State is losing 167 receptions, 2,433 yards, and 31 touchdowns from the trio of Parris Campbell, Terry McLaurin, and Johnnie Dixon. And that’s just what they did last year. Still on campus and working out every day at OSU, McLaurin and Dixon sat down with receivers coach Brian Hartline recently and went over a couple of their…
Garrett Wilson is the highest-rated wide receiver signed by Ohio State in at least the last 20 years, so folks can be forgiven for having some lofty expectations for him even as a true freshman. Buckeye fans are accustomed to hearing about the newest, hottest, latest thing in Buckeye football every spring and fall, and every…
Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, defensive backs coaches Jeff Hafley and Matt Barnes, and a handful of players met with the media to discuss the Buckeyes’ 2019 spring football.
Wide receiver Jaylen Harris has caught just two passes in each of his first two seasons as a Buckeye, playing in 10 games total. The four career receptions after two seasons may seem low, but it’s still one more than Michael Thomas had after his first two years and three more than Johnnie Dixon. It’s also four more than Terry…
They say the waiting is the hardest part, but as Ohio State’s Demario McCall found out this past season, fighting your way into a loaded lineup is even harder. As an H-back with a tailback upbringing, McCall found himself behind JK Dobbins and Mike Weber at running back and Parris Campbell and KJ Hill at H-back.
With the departures of fifth-year senior receivers Parris Campbell, Terry McLaurin, and Johnnie Dixon, the Buckeyes must replace a trio of receivers that accounted for a total of 167 receptions, 2,433 yards, and 31 touchdown catches in 2018. Despite the losses, Ohio State will return six receivers with extensive playing…
Ryan Day has said he will wait until after the season to address his coaching staff and any prospective changes. It makes sense, as to do it before the Rose Bowl in public isn’t exactly the way to keep everyone focused on the task at hand. While some coaches may have an inkling as to their fate, next week’s Rose Bowl…
