Following Day, Buckeye quarterback Justin Fields also took to the podium to talk about his excellent day. You can check out all of the highlights of what was said below.
COLUMBUS — The Ohio State defense used constant pursuit and relentless aggression in a 42-0 shutout win of the Cincinnati Bearcats (1-1) on Saturday.
For the second week in a row, the #5 Buckeyes (2-0) used the first half to show the world what they were capable of. This time around, however, they also used the second half to impress some people.

People will read last week’s five predictions and say, “Tony, you got four of your five predictions completely wrong.” To which I would say, “Only four? Make sure you don’t look at the bonus predictions.” I would then remind them of something that Thomas Edison said when he failed to invent the light bulb. I have not failed, I’ve just found four ways to be wrong about predictions.
Everybody here correctly picked Ohio State to defeat Florida Atlantic last week, and if you know anything about my predicting abilities, I’m gonna make note of every single one that I get right. The closest pick, however, came from Tom Orr, who went with 45-17, but we don’t have time to continue talking about last week’s game. We have to move on to Cincinnati.
Ohio State has released its weekly availability report and once again the Buckeyes will be without starting defensive end Jonathon Cooper. Cooper went down with an ankle injury in camp and no timetable has been given on his return, though teammates have said he would be back this year. Ohio State has two categories on their availability list: Players…

Every year, Ohio State usually begins the season having to try and figure out what an opponent is going to do on offense and defense to combat the Buckeyes’ talent disadvantage. They know they’ll see some new and different things, and they also know they’ll see a few things they hadn’t planned on. It is rare, however, when the unknowns…
Justin Fields was electric, as we knew he should be. I was very close on his pass total (25 vs. a projected 26) and completions (18 vs. 21). He managed to outshine my TD total, throwing one more TD pass than I anticipated. I thought that the other QBs would see more action, but Ryan Day left Fields in for the majority of the game, limiting the backup…
Luke Fickell spent five years at Ohio State as a player, starting four of those years at nose tackle for the Buckeyes. He came back to the University as a graduate assistant in 1999 before landing a defensive line job with Akron for 2000 and 2001. He returned to Ohio State in 2002 and remained there through the 2016 season before leaving to take…
