Ohio State has released their weekly game notes for Saturday night’s matchup at Nebraska, which means they have also released the Players of the Game and the Champions from OSU’s 62-14 win over Maryland. Linebackers. Most teams are looking for big, fast and strong linebackers to anchor the defense, and rightfully so. The position group is arguably the most important cog in any defensive scheme as the right blend of athletes can boost a defensive front or help minimize the exposure of a secondary. But what happens when a group is…

Oklahoma entered this season with a revamped offensive attack as they sorted out their running back situation following the loss of Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine to the NFL. Without those two bell cows, the Sooners instead relied heavily on quick throws to predetermined reads on first and second downs versus week 1 opponent UTEP.
Last week against Indiana, Ohio State linebacker Jerome Baker shadowed Hoosiers tight end Ian Thomas from time to time. He was one of several different Buckeyes to match up against the talented pass catcher. Thomas finished with five receptions for 53 yards and two touchdowns. I’m sitting here one day away from Ohio State’s kickoff and I just realized that I haven’t made any season predictions for the Buckeyes, or if I have, I have no recollection of it. I thought I would have time to get it done, but I’m running out of time, and I still have other commitments that…
Junior linebacker Jerome Baker has spoken openly about the issues he had last season as a brand new starter on the Ohio State defense. He did the best he could, but he could have done so much better. Fortunately for both him and the Buckeye defense, Baker is an elite athlete, so he could make up for his mistakes with…
Monday will bring about another opportunity to speak with Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. Also on the media docket will be the Buckeye quarterbacks. There is still a competition raging on to be J.T. Barrett’s backup, so that will obviously be a topic of conversation. Joe Burrow and Dwayne Haskins will…
Ohio State linebacker Jerome Baker was simply too productive last year for his season to be considered anything other than a rousing success. It could have been a lot better, however. After all, players are graded as much on what they did wrong as what they did right, and if they made a tackle while doing something improperly…
If you’re a consumer of Ohio State media coverage, you’ve no doubt read or heard about freshman running back J.K. Dobbins. You can’t walk 20 feet inside of OSU Twitter without stepping on somebody’s excitement about Dobbins. His name keeps popping up everywhere, even on a radio show in Nashville. While we…
