Wt: 299
40: 5.50
Bench: DNP

Overall Rank: No. 96
Position Rank: No. 8 Offensive Tackle

A long and athletic tackle that really struggled at the Combine, Jones has the look of a tackle who can provide depth early in his career with his toughness and strength before stepping into a starter role

PROJECTIONS

One-Year Projection: Jones will serve as the backup to both tackles. His skill set is best suited for a Zone blocking scheme with a quick passing game.

Three-Year Projection: Starter you can win with due to his toughness and play strength. Always looking for the opposite color which helps create throwing lanes or spring a long run.

SUMMARY
A true senior and 2-year starter at OT for Ohio State. Long frame with above average arm length and big hands. A good athlete with quick feet, good bend, change of direction, balance and inline and lateral movement. Shows flashes of burst off the line of scrimmage in zone run schemes, especially with his reach blocks. His first-level angles, footwork, and leverage are impressive, shows quickness and mirror ability even out in space.

Plays with good strength after getting full extension and displays good push power as he keeps feet moving throughout play to finish blocks. Jones is at his best during protection when he short sets and makes a stand on the line of scrimmage. Jones is extremely aware in pass pro, plays under control and with good awareness, anticipates, and adjusts to twists blitzes and games. He is a natural knee bender with good kickslide and transition to a power shuffle who can sit to anchor and really slide and adjust with unusual movement for a big man.

Struggles as a Gap/Power blocker. Tendency to rise up and play tall, which decreases his play strength, negating push at the point of attack and will get walked back on occasion. Must work on pad level upon engagement. On Zone runs, he needs to work on his timing, knowing when to climb to second-level defenders and which angles to take, as his poor angles will leave him off balance vs ILBs. In pass protection, he is inconsistent with his set points, failing to stay square to the line of scrimmage as long as possible during protection, choosing to soften his outside edge and giving rushers a better surface.

SCHEME FIT
Zone run scheme and quick to intermediate passing game.
