Four-star Lexington (Lexington HS) linebacker Cade Stover announced his commitment to Ohio State on Sunday. He released the news in a video that gives a glimpse of what the Buckeyes are getting next year.

Stover (6-4 225) is ranked the No. 8 outside linebacker in the 2019 class per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 130 player in the nation overall.
He committed to Ohio State over offers from Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Texas, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and others.
Stover was named First-Team All-State last season as a defensive back, and also Second-Team All-State in basketball after averaging 18 points per game for his Lexington squad.
Stover is a big, physical linebacker who likely projects to the inside for the Buckeyes, or possibly even defensive end. He has the frame and drive to meet downhill runners at the line of scrimmage, and rarely loses the battle. He shows his athleticism and toughness at quarterback as well, routinely making eye-opening runs against defenses that know what’s coming.
Now the eighth verbal commitment for the Buckeyes, Stover gives them possibly their first linebacker in the 2019 class. Steele Chambers, who committed 11 days ago, could end up at running back or linebacker.
Stover’s commitment comes one day after Ohio State got the same good news from Maryland safety Bryson Shaw, who flipped from Wisconsin to OSU. The great Ohio State recruiting weekend may not be over, however, as 5-star Texas wide receiver Garrett Wilson is set to choose between Texas and the Buckeyes Sunday night at 9:00 pm Eastern.
Stover is now the third Ohioan in the Buckeyes’ 2019 class. Last year, they finished with a total of five Ohio prospects in the 2018 recruiting class.
