Four-star Illinois (Belleville West High School) power forward E.J. Liddell has committed to Ohio State. He chose the Buckeyes over Missouri and Illinois. He also had offers from UConn, Louisville, Florida, Wisconsin, and others.

His announcement was revealed via Twitter.

Liddell (6-7 220) is the No. 48 player in the 2019 class and the No. 10 power forward in the nation per the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 1 prospect in the state of Illinois.

As a junior, Liddell averaged 20.9 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game.

In his highlights below, Liddell displays a fairly complete offensive game. He has easy 3-point range and a smooth release. He can put the ball on the floor and is under control. Liddell also has a nice post-up game that can take place near the basket or out beyond the elbow. He is able to catch and shoot from anywhere and also appears to be a strong rebounder. His ability to help on defense is also notable, as is his ability as a one-on-one defender.

Ohio State now has three verbal commitments in the 2019 recruiting class. Five-star point guard D.J. Carton (No. 24 overall) committed in July, and 4-star small forward Alonzo Gaffney (No. 39 overall) has been committed since April. Gaffney and Liddell will give the Buckeyes a pair of versatile front court players.

Carton is the No. 2 point guard in the class, while Gaffney — all 6-foot-9 of him — is the No. 8 small forward prospect in the nation.

Chris Holtmann’s class is ranked tops overall in the Big Ten at this point.

  1. The next KBD 1 year year removed, locked and loaded. He’ll look fantastic next to Jae’Sean Tate’s replacement in Alonzo Gaffney.

Holtmann is putting together a powerful front court line-up and E.J. is a great piece of that puzzle to put the Buckeyes into the personnel driven roster to lead to championships. WELCOME aboard E.J.
