COLUMBUS — Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer spoke with reporters following practice Wednesday night. He provided some personnel updates on his football team, including who is expected to miss Saturday’s game. Meyer also answered plenty of questions about his football team and their upcoming matchup against Minnesota this weekend. Here are the highlights.
+ The tight ends have been “just okay” in the passing game this year. The run blocking is getting better. Meyer grades them a B overall and says Jeremy Ruckert will be an excellent player. Kevin Wilson and Tim Hinton have been working on Ruckert. “He’s got a great future here.”
+ The pass rush has been average without Nick Bosa, and that ties in with the pass defense. They need a little bit more from everyone.
+ Excellent practice today.
+ Meyer doesn’t have a status update on Jonathon Cooper yet. The injuries to the defensive line has been frustrating this season. Meyer liked what he saw from Tyreke Smith last week.
+ Jashon Cornell’s career has been “just okay.” Meyer talked to him in the last week about finishing his career strong. He’s a wonderful guy and a good student. He’s got a nice career set up when he’s done with football through Real Life Wednesdays.
+ Malik Harrison is still up in the air on his availability for Saturday.
