Top 50 NJ Running Back Jalen Berger Makes Visit to Ohio State

Jalen Berger Ohio State Recruiting Buckeyes

Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ) running back Jalen Berger is on the Ohio State campus Thursday for an unofficial visit.

Berger (6-0 187) is the No. 5 athlete in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 50 player overall. He is Rivals’ No. 6 running back and No. 36 player overall in the 2020 recruiting class.

Berger holds offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Florida, Penn State, LSU, and many others. He has already visited Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee, Pitt, and Rutgers this spring. He took a visit to Ohio State last year.

Berger is a smooth running back with the speed to turn the corner. He doesn’t shy away from contact, but is good at avoiding it. He also lines up at receiver and looks comfortable catching passes.

Ideally, Ohio State will sign two running backs in the 2020 class, though they do not yet have any tailbacks committed.

Arizona running back Darvon Hubbard committed to the Buckeyes last summer, but eventually decommitted.

Ohio State has been involved with 5-star tailbacks Kendall Milton and Bijan Robinson. Milton, out of California, took an unofficial visit to OSU this spring. Robinson, out of Arizona, is scheduled to take an official visit to Ohio State in June.

The Buckeyes have also offered a pair of in-state running backs in Akron prospect DeaMonte Trayanum and Dublin prospect Michael Drennen. Drennen is the No. 5 all-purpose back in the nation, while Trayanum is the No. 25 running back in the nation per the 247Sports Composite.

Both players were on the Ohio State campus this spring for unofficial visits.
