Ohio State has offered 2020 Hawaii (St. Louis HS/Honolulu, HI) quarterback Jayden de Laura. De Laura tweeted out the news Sunday evening.

De Laura (6-1 190) committed to Washington State a month ago. A 3-star prospect, he is the No. 24 pro-style quarterback in the nation and the No. 595 play overall per the 247Sports Composite. In 247’s own rankings, de Laura is the No. 6 pro-style QB and the No. 362 player overall.

De Laura also holds offers from USC, BYU, Hawaii, Western Kentucky, and San Diego State.

USC offered in the past week.

When he committed to Washington State early in October, he told 247Sports.com that he was shutting his recruitment down.

“The coaches told me that if I’m onboard, they’re excited to get going,” de Laura said at the time. “If I was ready to commit, they told me they’re done going after other quarterbacks in this 2020 class. That was big for me to hear that and it got me even more excited. I’m absolutely done and excited to be committed to Washington State.”

De Laura is currently completing over 70% of his passes this season, nearing 3,000 yards passing and 30 touchdowns.

Ohio State has had a quarterback committed in the 2020 class since 4-star Arizona QB Jack Miller verballed July 1 of 2018. Miller is the No. 10 pro-style quarterback in the class and the No. 237 player overall per the Composite.

Miller (6-4 210) took his official visit to Ohio State for the Wisconsin game and is still talking like a future Buckeye.

He was also busy this past weekend, as you can see in the clip below.

Ohio State wants to sign two quarterbacks in the 2020 cycle. Miller and 4-star California prospect CJ Stroud are their top two targets at the moment.

Stroud (6-3 194) is the No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the class and the No. 137 player overall. He is still planning official visits following his football season. All five Crystal Ball projections are pointed at Ohio State.

At this point, the offer to De Laura appears to be insurance should something happen with Miller and Stroud.
