Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith met with the media on Wednesday evening to discuss the NCAA’s ruling on junior defensive end Chase Young.
Young was reinstated, effective with the Buckeyes’ November 23 game against Penn State.
He will sit out this weekend’s game at Rutgers, completing a two-game suspension for accepting a loan from a family friend to fly his girlfriend to the 2019 Rose Bowl.
That was a violation of NCAA rules. Young was able to document the fact that he had repaid the loan, and was therefore only forced to sit out two games.
According to Ohio State, Smith will not be able to get into the specific details of the violations and investigation, but he will address some of the processes involved regarding the reinstatement request.
You can watch Smith’s press conference in its entirety below.
Hey Gerds, what happened to this being Michigan reporting this infraction? Gene said it wasn’t a BIG program, but you said it was Michigan, why would Michigan report this to OSU?
Doug — I never reported this was Michigan. Not even sure what you are referring to.
Almost every single NCAA violation seems to have occurred under his leadership.
Blah, blah, blah blah blah blah. That’s all I’ve ever heard from this idiot.
