In this episode of the Buckeye Weekly podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr recap Ryan Day and Jeff Hafley’s Tuesday press conference comments. The topic of the day was what happens when talent is equated and you need to do more than simply be more talented than an opponent to win. The Buckeyes are focused on the fundamentals this week and they believe that will give them an edge.
Ohio State All-American defensive end Chase Young won’t play in tomorrow’s game at Rutgers. That is not news, as his two-game suspension was already announced earlier in the week. This weekend’s contest will be his second and final missed game. Young will then be back for next weekend’s tilt against Penn State.
In this emergency episode of the Buckeye Weekly podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr cover the breaking news of Chase Young’s impending reinstatement. Ohio State director of athletics Gene Smith also held a press conference regarding the Chase Young situation and the fellas cover that as well. Following the show, Smith’s press conference can be heard in its entirety.
The NCAA’s verdict is in. Chase Young will return for the Buckeyes’ game against Penn State on November 23. Young will serve the second game of a two-game suspension this weekend when Ohio State plays at Rutgers.
Chase Young is practicing with the team this week, and preparing as if he’ll be on the field this Saturday.
Ohio State tried really hard this week not to give me much to gripe about. For much of the game I didn’t have a whole lot of complaints. But I’m nothing if not persistent, so I stuck with it and found plenty of things to be angry about despite the ultimate 73-14 win over the Maryland Terrapins. Let’s get to what made me want to spray passersby with the hose.
COLUMBUS — Ohio State came into the Maryland game knowing that they would be down not one, but two of their starting defensive ends. Senior defensive end Jonathon Cooper has missed the majority of the games this season due to injury, and with junior defensive end Chase Young’s future up in the air, the Ohio State Rushmen had to figure out a way to make up…
Technically, Chase Young hasn’t been suspended yet. But if he is forced to miss more than a game or two, it could have a major impact on this year’s Buckeye team.
