To this point, most of the talk about Ohio State wide receiver Jaylen Harris has been about whether or not this was the year that he would be able to contribute. Now a junior, Harris has provided glimpses and flashes over his first two years, which is what has always prompted the questions. The potential is unmistakable.
COLUMBUS — It’s not every day that the media gets to see a full Buckeye football practice. But when it happens, there’s always a ton of happenings to report on. For Ohio State’s eleventh spring practice of the year on Friday, there was nothing but action. For instance, fifth-year senior cornerback Damon Arnette and junior wide receiver…
The 2019 Ohio State Spring Game just over a week away. The race for the quarterback job between Justin Fields and Matthew Baldwin is starting to take shape.
In college football, players must emerge every spring in order to replace departed teammates. For Ohio State, this generally works out, thanks to tireless recruiting, but it’s not foolproof. There have certainly been times when the Buckeyes have left the spring with coaches still wondering who who was going to fill out their…
Wide receiver Jaylen Harris has caught just two passes in each of his first two seasons as a Buckeye, playing in 10 games total. The four career receptions after two seasons may seem low, but it’s still one more than Michael Thomas had after his first two years and three more than Johnnie Dixon. It’s also four more than Terry…
The main reason college football coaches want to go to bowl games is because it gives them extra practice time and acts essentially as a pre-spring training camp for the following season. Sure, they also like that it rewards the players, but the real benefit comes from the 15 or so practices over the month of December.
I normally start off each weekly post with a quick recap of the previous week. I’ll still give a brief list of where I was right and wrong with regards to my Purdue predictions. I will, however, opt out of the game summary. It may be Halloween, but I still don’t have the heart to scare you with a thorough recap of that mess.
The Buckeyes will be without the services of starting wide receiver Austin Mack for the foreseeable future following foot surgery on Monday. Mack was injured Saturday night during the Purdue game. The third-leading pass catcher on the team with 26 receptions, Mack has been Ohio State’s starting X receiver for the…
The Ohio State football team took the field Saturday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center for their first full-squad scrimmage of the fall. Fall camp just started a week ago, but the start of the OSU football season is closer than you think. In fact, the Buckeyes will already be done with their first regular season game against Oregon State three weeks from right now…
Last season, 14 different Buckeyes on the offensive side of the ball scored touchdowns. That’s the most since that same number in 2013. Of those 14, 11 are back, and there are another dozen players looking for their first steps into the end zone this year as well. There are, of course, 100 yards separating end zones, and plenty…
Coming into this season, I was a little worried how the Ohio State wide receiver room would shake out. I thought for sure Parris Campbell and Johnnie Dixon were gone to the NFL draft. Along with them, I would not have been shocked if K.J. Hill and Terry McLaurin left as well. You add these four guys to the loss of tight…
