Today at 12:00 pm Eastern, the Big Ten will announce the conference’s next commissioner. Current commish Jim Delany will be stepping down in 13 months, so he will have a year to get his new protege up to speed. Recent reports have the job going to Minnesota Vikings chief operating officer Kevin Warren, but I have yet to be told…
On Sunday, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that senior running back Chris Evans had been suspended for the 2019 season for academic reasons. Evans’ future was already cloudy before the suspension, but Harbaugh confirmed the rumors and now his leading returning rusher won’t be available this year.
This weekend, 5-star running back Kendall Milton will be taking his official visit to Ohio State. It will be one of at least four official visits Milton will take. Two weeks ago, Milton released a final four of Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, and Georgia. The No. 3 running back in the nation, Milton is from Clovis, California and plays…
Even though he enrolled early, Garrett Wilson’s repetutation still preceded him at Ohio State. Ranked the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2019 recruiting class, Wilson arrived at OSU with more expectations than most. Essentially from his first day, however, he has done a great job of living up to those expectations. The football season is still a long way off…
A life preserver doesn’t make for a great boat, but when you’re out in the middle of a lake with no boat to speak of, it’ll do. If Kaleb Wesson had chosen to stay in the NBA Draft rather than returning for his junior season, the Buckeyes would have been without their boat or a life preserver. Depending on how you feel about Wesson…
Any time the starting offensive line in the spring is entirely different than the starting lineup the season before, there are going to be concerns. That was the situation this past spring for the Buckeyes as they lost four starters and were without starting left tackle Thayer Munford due to a back injury. Despite the absence of Munford, there were still…
The phrase “Next man up” applies here, but it should probably be more like “Next man out and up.” When the Buckeyes lost receivers Terry McLaurin, Johnnie Dixon, and Parris Campbell from last season, they also lost three of the Big Ten’s top six producers of receptions of 40 yards or more. The big-play trio accounted for 11 of Ohio…
Way back in Urban Meyer’s day, the former Buckeye head coach would like to have as much of the two-deep set by the end of spring as possible. He wanted his quarterbacks to be set. He wanted to know who his starting middle linebacker was. Overall, his assistant coaches needed to have a very good idea of what their respective depth charts…
Last year was not a great one for the Ohio State defense. The 25.5 points per game allowed was the most of the Urban Meyer era. In fact, it was the most in school history, besting the old worst of 24.7 points per game set by the 1989 team. Yes, offenses have changed, and OSU’s own up-tempo attack invites more scoring from the opposition…
Wyatt Davis has been Ohio State’s starting right guard since December of last year, which means he has now been a starter for over six months. That may not sound like a lot, but Davis has now been through over 30 practices with the ones. Even though he has only started twice, those games were both in the postseason last year, and they…
The grass isn’t always greener in the NCAA’s transfer portal. In fact, sometimes there isn’t any grass at all. Currently, there are hundreds of players in the transfer portal who have nowhere to go. Some could return to their old schools, provided those schools haven’t moved on and would actually welcome them back. That’s not typical…
