February 4, 2002 | If you were on the Ohio State internet back around 2001 and 2002, at least 40% of your life was consumed with receiving recruiting updates on three particular players: offensive lineman Derek Morris, wide receiver Richard Washington, and linebacker Buster Davis. Two of the three ended up committing to Ohio State…
Not that beating Alabama is astonishing, but just the manner in which Ohio State has come to this point…how else would you describe it? I just saw Ohio State slay the Crimson dragon. The No. 1 team in the nation. The program that has loomed on Urban Meyer’s horizon since his arrival; yet to hear him say it, he may have arrived too early.
There had been talk all year, but the speculation began in earnest the moment the Michigan game ended. Would OSU junior All-American safety Mike Doss opt out of his senior year at Ohio State and head for the big time, and big money, of the NFL, or would he stay for his senior season at Ohio State? Opinions were plentiful, with most…
It wasn’t quite Christmas in July for Thad Matta, but it was close. It was late June, the 29th to be exact, and Matta got a big present in the way of verbal commitments from two of the nation’s top prep prospects, center Greg Oden and point guard Mike Conley, both from Lawrence North High School in Indiana.

Tressel put it this way. “I think any hard-fought victory is a good one, where…
There is big news in terms of a super prospect having now scheduled an official visit to Ohio State. RB Kelley Baraka from Portage, Northern High School in Michigan is certainly one of the country’s top running back prospects, there’s no question about that, but one of the questions has been who he would select for his 5th and final official visit.
The official box score says there was just one lead change in the OSU vs. No. 1 Illinois game, but it was probably the single-most significant lead change in Ohio State basketball in the last few years, and certainly in the Thad Matta era at Ohio State. The Illini (29-1, 15-1 Big Ten) led all the way against the Buckeyes, leading by as much as…
November, 1996. 35,000 OSU football fans brave the cold night air to witness Senior Tackle in Ohio Stadium. Former OSU head coach Earle Bruce whips up the team and crowd with a spirited address. The Buckeyes subsequently go out and lose that weekend to a Michigan team they really should have handled easily. Fast forward two years to November of 1998.
