We love our autumn traditions on the Silver Bullets Podcast: apple cider, pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving dinner with the family, and a big Ohio State win over that team up north. Both Chip Minnich and I predicted an Ohio State victory but neither of us expected it to be quite so comprehensive. We break down the OSU victory in The Game and how everything just kind of came together at the exact same time for once this season.
It’s no surprise that Dwayne Haskins is the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (again), but we’re a little salty about Chris Olave not winning the freshman award. Did Rondale Moore block a punt for a touchdown this week in a game for the division championship? We don’t think so.
We go off on a brief tangent about Jim Harbaugh and what on earth Michigan will do if he’s not “the guy” after all. Chip points out that the Wolverines don’t have the easiest schedule next year and it’s unclear where that school up north will turn if its savior turns out to be just another guy.
And we look ahead to what the Buckeyes can expect out of Pat Fitzgerald’s Northwestern Wildcats. Everyone seems surprised to see them in Indianapolis, but the Cats did it with outstanding fundamental football, tenaciousness, and exhibiting the fight exemplified by their head coach. If Ohio State fans think Saturday night’s championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium is going to be a cakewalk, it might be time to reflect back on this season as a whole.
We’ll come back next week and talk about the Big Ten Championship Game and what lies ahead for Ohio State’s postseason.
