Not a lot of sense wasting time on last week’s statistical recap. I was accurate on a couple of predictions, but undervalued the offense and it showed in the overall yardage. When you rush for over seven yards per carry and better than 300 yards, overshooting the passing yardage is possible. I did just that. I hit on another Justin…
The Buckeyes are undefeated in conference play after going to Indiana and playing with their food against the Hoosiers. Ohio State dominated in all phases of the game in an outing that, while not perfect, was darn impressive for a team still building chemistry around a first-year starting quarterback. We break down the good, the more good, the great…
In this episode of the Buckeye SloopCast, Jared and Kyle look back on Ohio State’s win over the Indiana Hoosiers. It was an impressive display by the Buckeye playmakers, and there is still room to grow. Justin Fields wasn’t perfect, but the potential is obvious. Chase Young, meanwhile, is well past potential and bringing results every single week.
By now you should know that the Grumpy Old Buckeye column aims to be the voice of negativity, even when things are generally pretty great. I point out the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it. This week, we’re discussing Ohio State’s first road game and first conference…
In this episode of the Buckeye SloopCast, Jared and Kyle begin the show by talk about the Ohio State wide receivers and their distinctive roles. They also talk about the Ohio State defense and the changes that have been made as the Indiana game approaches. A discussion of the makeup of the running back carries is also had, and there’s a delightful…
Speaking about Ohio State, Indiana head coach Tom Allen is relishing the opportunity to welcome the Buckeyes into Memorial Stadium, in Bloomington, Indiana. If Indiana were to upset Ohio State (GASP! Darkest Day III!?!), it would be the first time since October 8, 1988. That was back when some young whippersnapper named Ronald Reagan…
I was close on some aspects of this game but like many people I thought it would be much closer than it was. Read: I thought Cincinnati might score some actual points. But, I’m not complaining. Justin Fields made me look smart last Saturday, which is a rare feat and one that I’m eternally grateful for. My prediction for him was 20 completions for 238 yards…
In this episode of the Buckeye SloopCast, Jared and Kyle share their thoughts from Saturday’s Ohio State win over Cincinnati. They invite the haters to please stand up while talking about how well some of the Buckeyes have been playing this season. It’s early, but things are clicking right now. Are these the signs of a special season on the horizon?
It’s your Week 2 edition of Grumpy Old Buckeye and we’re talking about Ohio State vs. the University of Cincinnati. If you’re new to this column, welcome! The aim here is to be the voice of negativity, even when things are generally pretty great. I point out the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it.
In this episode of the Buckeye SloopCast, Jared and Kyle preview Saturday’s game against Cincinnati. Luke Fickell returns to his old stomping grounds, which is no small thing. The fellas also talk about Ryan Day and his offense, specifically the quarterback and the offensive line. They also look at the rest of the nation, where there are some interesting games this week.
