This Saturday afternoon, Luke Fickell is planning on making his homecoming to Ohio State memorable. Coming off a dominant 24-14 home win over UCLA in the season opener, Cincinnati is primed to claim their first-ever win against the Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium, and the first victory over Ohio State since 1897, a 24-0 shutout.
Justin Fields was electric, as we knew he should be. I was very close on his pass total (25 vs. a projected 26) and completions (18 vs. 21). He managed to outshine my TD total, throwing one more TD pass than I anticipated. I thought that the other QBs would see more action, but Ryan Day left Fields in for the majority of the game, limiting the backup…
In this episode of the Buckeye SloopCast, Jared and Kyle talk about Ohio State’s 45-21 win over Florida Atlantic. All wins are good wins, even this one. There are still some concerns, however. The offensive line had its issues. The read-option wasn’t perfect. The fellas talk about Justin Fields’ performance. And then spend some time talking about the Buckeye…
Welcome back to the first Grumpy Old Buckeye of the 2019 Ohio State season. If you’re new to this column, welcome! The aim here is to be the voice of negativity, even when things are generally pretty great. I point out the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it.
The statistical projections are back, and there’s nothing worse than trying to pin down the first game numbers. The team is new. The QB is a transfer. The opponent is relatively unknown (read: not in the Big Ten). Their coach is equal parts hilarious and certifiable, so I have no idea if he’s about to roll out a competitive, innovative game plan that…
In this episode of the Buckeye SloopCast, Jared and Kyle preview Saturday’s game against Florida Atlantic. Is Justin Fields ready for the road ahead? How good is he really? The fellas also bring back the fan favorite SlooPicks and look at the college football games this weekend and prognosticate. They then get back to the Buckeyes and talk about…
There’s definitely a comfort level with me when it comes to picking Big Ten East outcomes that does not exist with the Big Ten West. Perhaps it’s from the Buckeyes’ schedule and seeing a majority of East teams play on a regular, week-in and week-out basis. That’s not to suggest that I’ll predict more games right in the East than the West, but, well, yea I will.
Truth be told, Florida Atlantic has not provided much information either, as no starting quarterback has been announced, with speculation that Chris Robison will get the nod. Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin is not thrilled with opening up on the road against the Buckeyes, stating, “There’s a lot of different ways to go about these things.”
If you’re like me (read: cheap), you’ve probably cut ties with your local cable/satellite TV provider by now in favor of some other streaming option. If you’re also like me (read: lazy), you’d want to have every possible sports channel included so as to avoid having to get up from the couch and go out into the public to watch a game. Now, let me do you one better.
