The season continues to fly by at supersonic speeds, even if certain games plod by like the mascot of Ohio State’s next opponent. Ohio State’s 26-6 win at Michigan State wasn’t a beauty contest but I think it’s gorgeous to get a 100-yard rusher against the country’s top run defense and regardless of how inept the Spartans…
Welcome to the Michigan State edition of the Grumpy Old Buckeye, the voice of negativity, whether I have cause or not. This is the place where I write about the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it. This week we’re talking Ohio State vs. Sparty.
The Buckeyes are back in the win column two weeks after the debacle in West Lafayette, and although it wasn’t a complete performance by any means, and there is still a lot left to improve upon, there were some positive signs. We’re here to break down Dwayne Haskins’ worst game of the year, even though just about…
Welcome to the Nebraska edition of the Grumpy Old Buckeye, the voice of negativity even when things are generally going pretty great, which they have not been the last few games. This is the place where I write about the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it.
It’s been more than a week since Purdue Harbor II and we still have a bit of fallout from that game to discuss, including how Ohio State is moving on and (hopefully) improving as the November portion of the schedule looms in the final run-up to the college football postseason. The Boilermakers celebrated their win…
Wins are great, but man is this year’s undefeated Ohio State team winning in ways that are making the Buckeye fan base want to rampage. With a 7-0 team after a 30-14 win over Minnesota, all the discussions seem to be about the poor running game, the broken defense, and the lack of any kind of ideas on the coaching staff’s part…
Welcome back to the Grumpy Old Buckeye, the column where no matter how good things are, I find some stuff to gripe about. Every week I point out the things from the game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it. This week we’re talking Ohio State vs. Minnesota…
The Buckeyes posted their second quality win of the year and stayed undefeated with a dramatic 27-26 victory over Penn State on Saturday night. Ohio State silenced the whiteout with a 96-yard drive and some clutch defensive plays by Chase Young and others. We’re here to talk about the game, and a game this big deserves a big podcast.
The Buckeyes squeaked out a 49-6 win over the mighty Tulane Green Wave on Saturday and we’re here to talk about all the things we liked and didn’t like about Ohio State’s fourth win of the season in as many tries. Everyone is talking about Dwayne Haskins and Parris Campbell, but we found a lot of other things to enjoy from the win.
Welcome back, my friends, to the grump that never ends. If you don’t yet know about the Grumpy Old Buckeye, this column is the voice of negativity, even when things are generally pretty great. I’ll point out the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at these darn kids today.
TCU finally forced Ohio State to face a bit of adversity. Trailing in the second half and without perhaps the nation’s best college football player after Nick Bosa’s injury, the Buckeyes rallied in all three phases of the game, scoring on Dre’mont Jones’ shovel pass pick six, blocking (partially, anyway) a punt, and hitting big pass…
