The NFL Draft decisions for this year’s Buckeyes range from total no-brainers to genuine debates. Here’s a look at the players who are likely to go, likely to stay for another year, and those stuck somewhere in the middle.
The Buckeyes, who had been so clean, so precise, and so mistake-free for most of the season, suddenly started making crucial mistakes that added up to a crushing, 29-23 loss.
We’re back after a week off to prepare for the holidays and even though we procrastinated and didn’t use that time to prepare at all, we are giving you a show this week anyway. Unfortunately, Chip couldn’t make it this week with some family stuff he had to attend to, so filling in for him is The Ozone’s very own Tony Gerdeman.
Former Buckeye quarterback Joe Burrow won the 2019 Heisman Trophy Saturday night. He was one of four current or former Buckeyes to finish in the Top 6 of the award’s voting. Sophomore quarterback Justin Fields finished third, junior defensive end Chase Young finished fourth, and junior running back JK Dobbins finished sixth. Dobbins wasn’t one of the four finalists…
Redshirt sophomore cornerback Shaun Wade is expected to be back in the Ohio State lineup this week. His teammates have alluded to his return for the Big Ten Championship Game, and based on his lack of being listed on OSU’s latest injury report, it appears that Wade is good to go for the Badger game Saturday night.
A redshirt sophomore, Wade has found a home as OSU’s slot corner in their three-cornerback starting lineup. He is as capable of handling a quick, slot receiver as he is a big, pass-catching tight end, which he showed last week against Penn State. Wade’s name has even been appearing in the first round of recent mock drafts.
Redshirt sophomore cornerback Shaun Wade has emerged as one of Ohio State’s top defensive playmakers this season. This has not come as a surprise to most, as when Wade flashed last season, it was clear that he had the potential to make a name for himself at Ohio State. Wade was a five-star recruit in 2017 from Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Ohio State defense is ranked fourth in the nation in scoring, second in total defense, first in sacks, second in tackles for loss, 11th in interceptions, fourth in fumbles forced, and third in opponent third down percentage. This is the best Buckeye defense in years and little doubt that it is one of the most exciting in recent memory.
