Brendon White emerged last season at safety for the Buckeyes, but now he’s looking at a new home, and an even bigger impact this season. As a sophomore in 2018, White spent most of the season coming off of the bench. He ended up starting the final five games of the season. White produced 41 of his 46 tackles over the…
The Buckeyes return all five safeties who started at least one game last season, though Jordan Fuller was held out this spring with a “lower extremity injury. “Isaiah Pryor started seven games last season, Jahsen Wint started once, Shaun Wade started twice, and Brendon White started the final five games, earning the Rose Bowl Defensive MVP trophy…
This is something that I have been wanting to write about, but it seems daunting to tackle because of all of the variables. Though when the boss sends in a reader mail request, I guess I have to stop putting it off and just get it done. Rather than heading off into 16 different tangents, let’s take the questions one at a time and try to remain…
Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline, defensive backs coaches Jeff Hafley and Matt Barnes, and a handful of players met with the media to discuss the Buckeyes’ 2019 spring football.
This winter we told you there would be changes coming to the Ohio State defense, and one of those changes was the inclusion of a hybrid linebacker. Greg Mattison and Al Washington utilized it at Michigan in the form of the “Viper,” which was manned by Jabrill Peppers and Khaleke Hudson over the last few years. The position is not new, but…
It has been speculated about, and if photos are to be believed, Ohio State has made the move to a defense with a hybrid linebacker and it is directly going to impact junior Brendon White. Friday was Ohio State football’s annual “Harley Davidson workout” signifying the closing of winter workouts. Following the workout, each position…
Last week’s edition of The Game was awesome. There’s no getting around it. I went in with guarded optimism, my weekly statistical projection giving the Buckeyes a very close victory. Instead, they dissected Don Brown’s “gameplan” like he was a middle-of-the-pack Big 12 defensive strategist. And, in just four hours, Urban Meyer turned…
Welcome back to the Grumpy Old Buckeye, the column that aims to be the voice of negativity, even when things are going great. It’s where I point out the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it. This week we’re talking Ohio State at Maryland.
Before I get into the recap and statistical projections, go ahead and allow yourself a nice, calm exhale. Ohio State did what we’ve been waiting on them to do for several weeks. They played, perhaps, their most complete game of the season and beat a ranked opponent on the road. Sure, they toppled Penn State, in…
Ohio State sophomore safety Brendon White has played a major role in the Buckeyes’ defensive resurgence since the loss at Purdue. White was pressed into duty after strong safety Jordan Fuller was ejected during the Nebraska game for targeting. His impact was immediate and obvious. White had a team-high 13 tackles in a little more than half a game. More importantly, he provided OSU with good angles and sure tackling that had been missing most of the year…
