Well *takes deep breath* it happened again. My statistical projections were impacted when OSU played down to its competition and was unable to separate from the Golden Gophers until late in the game. For a majority of the contest, Minnesota was within a score of Ohio State, even leading for several minutes in the second quarter.
Wins are great, but man is this year’s undefeated Ohio State team winning in ways that are making the Buckeye fan base want to rampage. With a 7-0 team after a 30-14 win over Minnesota, all the discussions seem to be about the poor running game, the broken defense, and the lack of any kind of ideas on the coaching staff’s part…
The Buckeyes were unable to overcome a case of the Hoosiers last weekend. Sure, the good guys topped them by 23, but, as usual, it was an ugly affair. The same will not happen this weekend. OSU comes out strong, dominates on both sides of the ball, and does not allow any boats to be successfully rowed. P.J. Fleck will…
It’s me, the Grumpy Old Buckeye, writing with the voice of negativity (kind of), even when things are generally pretty great. In this space, I point out the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it. This week we’re talking Ohio State vs. Indiana in a homecoming extravaganza.
It was always understood that Chase Young would be very, very good at Ohio State, and five games into his sophomore season, he hasn’t disappointed. Young is currently tied for the team and Big Ten lead in sacks (4.0) and is second on the team in tackles for loss (6.0). Coincidentally, he is tied with teammate Nick Bosa…
Don’t let the impressive 4-1 record fool you. The Hoosiers have been remarkably average in their first five football games this season. They had a nice road win against a decent Virginia team, but also lost by two touchdowns to a Michigan State team that, though ranked, has also struggled a bit this season. In the in-between, they’ve…
The Buckeyes posted their second quality win of the year and stayed undefeated with a dramatic 27-26 victory over Penn State on Saturday night. Ohio State silenced the whiteout with a 96-yard drive and some clutch defensive plays by Chase Young and others. We’re here to talk about the game, and a game this big deserves a big podcast.
There were some serious questions about how the Ohio State defense would hold up against Penn State without star defensive end Nick Bosa. Sophomore Chase Young answered pretty much all of them Saturday night in the Buckeyes’ 27-26 comeback win. Monday, that was enough to earn him a share of the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week honor. Young finished the game with three tackles for loss, including two sacks and the game-clinching stuff of a 4th-and-5 play in the final minutes…
STATE COLLEGE – It was a game full of ups and downs, good and bad plays, questionable calls, and back and forth play. In Ohio State’s comeback 27-26 win over Penn State on Saturday, there were costly mistakes made on both sides of the ball for the Buckeyes. But one constant contributor, major factor, and consistent player…
The No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes made quick work of Tulane on Saturday, racing out to a 42-6 halftime lead en route to a 49-6 win. After the game, players and coaches discussed the win, and the impressive play of redshirt sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Head coach Urban Meyer also addressed his emotional return to the sidelines at Ohio Stadium for the first time since his suspension. However, the Buckeyes also quickly turned the page to next week’s road trip to No. 10 Penn State…
