Every week during Urban Meyer’s Monday press conference, he will read off the list of Buckeyes who graded out as champions in the previous game. The grading scale changes for each position group, but for each player it is a mark of how well they played at their respective positions. Since this is the halfway point of the regular season…
Ohio State has released their weekly game notes for Saturday night’s matchup at Nebraska, which means they have also released the Players of the Game and the Champions from OSU’s 62-14 win over Maryland. Quarterback J.T. Barrett was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while linebacker Jerome Baker earned Defensive Player of the Week.
At this point, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett may want to start handing out memos with pre-written quotes and talking points because it would save everyone some time. Barrett met with the media this week, as he does several two or three times per week, and was asked about the deep ball. “I’m tired of that deep ball,” he said in what…
Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano and Buckeye players Jalyn Holmes, Jordan Fuller, Jerome Baker, J.T. Barrett, and Parris Campbell spoke with the media Tuesday night. You can see much of those interviews in the videos below. If you would like to be alerted in real time of these videos as they are happening, you can…
Urban Meyer and his Ohio State assistants are trying to solidify the Buckeye offense and turn it into one of the best in the nation. It is already one of the most proficient offenses in the nation, but only against lesser competition to this point. One way to make it dangerous against all opponents is to improve their red zone success rate.
[Editor’s note: NEWBrutus is one of our long-time posters on the Legacy Forum who crunches numbers after every game and offers up various bits of data. This is one of those posts.] Let’s start with success rate. Successful plays are defined as a gain of 50% of the needed yards on first down, 70% of the needed yards on second and 100%…
Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett was benched with 3:32 remaining in the second quarter against UNLV Saturday. Albeit that came after the fifth-year quarterback completed one of his most efficient games in his career at Ohio State, converting 12-of-17 passes for 209 yards and five touchdowns. Barrett’s first touchdown pass was…
The Buckeyes have taken advantage of defenses of late by resorting to the bubble screen to the wide side of the field for easy gains. They have run this out of a variety of formations, including Jet Motion. As Tony stated in a recent episode of Accost The Field, this is Urban Meyer’s version of “Dave”, as it is a simple read and nearly…
On a day when Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback J.T. Barrett completed 75% of his passes, the questions posed to Urban Meyer after Saturday’s OSU 38-7 win over Army were the throws that Barrett didn’t make. Barrett completed 10-of-14 passes for 104 yards in the first quarter, but it was the misfires early on that Meyer was asked about.
What a difference a week makes. After struggling to get a consistent attack going in the Buckeyes’ 31-16 loss to Oklahoma and then enduring seven days of withering criticism from Ohio State fans, J.T. Barrett rebounded Saturday against Army with a record-breaking performance. With a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Austin Mack…
